This sounds extraordinary, Tatum. How incredibly special to be there in Ishikawa and imagining your mom's childhood. I found myself really wanting the library to be your mom's library! I hear both - the losses and the resilience of Ishikawa, and Okinawa as a whole.
- Such lovely history and reflection on your part. Thank you for sharing such a sacred visit with us!
Hi Amy, yes, it was a special trip that I continue to think back on often. To see the actual place of the place that I've imagined for so long was an experience accompanied by a lot of different feelings. It was so nice to read your note. I felt your company and was warmed by it. Thank you for following along with me!
Good to hear about your adventures in Okinawa, and earnestness to trace some of the childhood memories of your mom. You've been to that library before when you were 3 years old, and also swam at that beach in Ishikawa. The lunch set looks delicious and very Okinawan!
That's fun to know that I have been to both places before in Ishikawa! I wasn't thinking of that. The lunch set was very nice. Felt quite healthy. People in Okinawa really liked the seaweed, they were all asking for extra servings of it - in addition to the servings that already came with the set.
I loved this update! So fascinating and reflective. What a beautiful place.
